The crawlspace is about 2 feet high on solid ground (no basement). I don’t want the new pipes to freeze.
insulate the water lines with good insulation , the fiberglass kind with as thick a wall as you can find . also insulate the traps say for a shower or tub . and make sure the crawl spaces is sealed up properly in the winter

The tub/shower hasn’t been used for a few years in this home I inherited. The well water is hard and I think that’s the problem. The faucet is one of those single handle type you pull/push to turn on/off. Won’t budge. Tried penetrating oil and CLR, still no luck…
Try some vinegar.

They can be unscrewed and replace easily.
You may need a pipe wrench to do it easily, but it’s no big job.
You can buy replacements at any hardware store, from your local ones, to Home Depot etc.
They are usually I/2 inch pipe thread, and you will need some Teflon tape. or pipe grease to seal the threads.
Also available at the store. Ask them how to apply the tape, it’s easy too.

I’m remodeling my bathroom and plan on installing a 42" wide bathroom vanity, but I’m unsure what size medicine cabinet to use. Are there any design rules/theories as it pertains to vanity size vs medicine cabinet size?
It is really up to you but if you are looking for balance I wouldn’t go any smaller than a 36" wide cabinet. The best way to get an idea would be to tape out the sizes on the wall or cut a piece of cardboard. Smaller units are sometimes better if you plan to have accessories such as soap dish or tooth brush holders, towel hangers etc.

The aerator is as tight as can be and I’ll even loosen it a bit, but it still leaks when the water is on. I’ve tried both metal and rubber or palstic type swivel aerators.
I lot of these faucets have a rubber gasket that fits inside the spout, on top of the aerator to prevent leaks. Yours may be missing. If your water is hard the minerals will plug the screen and cause a very slow flow as well, but if you have tried several types that probably is not the problem. I lean towards the gasket missing or possibly the gasket being deformed for some reason.

I am in the planning stages of a shower faucet and spout replacement project. I currently have a three-handle set-up with a fiberglass shower surround. I want to install a single lever faucet which will need to be about 1 ft above the spout. I want to complete this installation and be able to re-use the fiberglass surround. Is this possible or will I need to replace this complete section of the surround? Does anyone have experience with this type of remodel?
Save yourself a lot of hassle and use a 3 handle set
You will need to access the area behind the shower by cutting a hole in the wall to access the plumbing to replace the valves
this is not an easy job and requires basic plumbing ability, as well as drywall refinishing to repair the hole you make
I would look for a kit that will replace your handles on your existing valves and replace the shower head, cheaper and easier

I have a slow drip from my shower faucet. I replaced the cartridge but it still drips. Any advice would be appreciated.
I have a slow drip from my shower faucet. I replaced the cartridge but it still drips. (The cartridge was replaced a couple moths ago and we haven’t used the shower)
Any advice would be appreciated.
If you replaced the cartridge… my only guess is that it’s dripping from the residual left in the head and pipe …..not from the supply itself

Delta still makes a good simple model. For kitchen, try the model #100 and vanity will be model #200. Both are basic single handle but good faucets.

I have been to all the bathroom product shops looking at bathroom accessories and designs, but the bathroom basins and sinks are all plain white and they all look the same. I want an idea for an exciting bathroom vanity. Something different and colourful. All the bathroom accessories I have looked at look mostly the same with the same colours. I could go to the top end of the market and pay thousands for a nice design bathroom sink or basin, but they are still white.
There must be some bathroom products which will give my bathroom renovation a different and interesting look. Any ideas.?.
There are some designers out there that take old sinks and do art on them, or you can do a pedistal sink or counter mount and do a art glass bowl, which is probably the easiest for you to find.

when taking my delta faucet handle apart, i noticed a white steam. do i pull it out or does it screw out some way? also, the big nut that i unscrewed is so hard to screw back on. it seems to go on lopsided no matter how much i try to aline it. is it really necessary to tighten it allll the way? i’m a woman determined to fix this problem. i am a very independent person and can usually fix things…but this is scaring me.
